HOUSE OF CONTINUUM - WIRED BY MJD

A Melbourne 1800s Mansion Brought to Life with Invisible Smart Home Technology

Project Overiew -

Heritage-listed buildings from the 1800s are among the most demanding environments for technology integration. The House of Continuum — a Melbourne mansion of significant architectural character — presented a set of physical and regulatory constraints that tested every skill Wired by MJD had accumulated across two decades in the industry.

Wired by MJD's dual accreditation as licensed electricians and ACRS Master Cablers meant they could plan and execute the complete infrastructure — electrical, data, communications, AV, and security — under one coordinated programme, with no handoffs between trades that could compromise the integrity of the installation.

Client Brief -

The project brief was shaped by a single, open question the client put to Wired by MJD: "What don't I have that you think I need?"

That question is the mark of a client who trusts their integrator and understands the full scope of what custom integration can deliver. It opened a genuine conversation about lifestyle — how the home is used across different times of day, which moments matter most, what friction exists in daily life, and what would make the experience of living in a home of this character truly exceptional.

Media Space - MAG Theatron UNIBAR

The media space at House of Continuum was the centrepiece of the technology upgrade, and its front-stage audio solution is the MAG Theatron UNIBAR — the flagship slim-profile three-channel soundbar from MAG Theatron's FALCON line. The three front cinema channels — Left, Centre, and Right — had to be delivered alongside the screen without visual intrusion and without acoustic compromise.

The UNIBAR was engineered precisely for this scenario. A single enclosure houses all three channels, each in its own acoustically isolated chamber. At just 220 mm tall and mounting only 13 mm from the wall on its dedicated slim bracket, it sits beneath the LED screen as a barely visible band of black — and delivers professional cinema performance.

Each of the three channels is built around a 3-way driver array: two 6.5" TeXtreme® carbon-fibre woofers, four 2" midrange cones, and a 3.3" Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter — technology drawn from MAG Theatron's heritage supplying loudspeakers to over 5,000 commercial cinema halls worldwide.
